Many non-profits are founded on charismatic leadership. When the charismatic founder leaves, the organization may sooner or later face a crisis.

• Transactional leadership may engage individuals to be involved in an organization for what they can get out of it. This may be spoken or unspoken.
• Transformational leadership is leadership where leaders and followers raise each other up to higher levels of motivation and right action. Transformational leadership is ultimately moral and ethical leadership. It transforms an organization from the top down and from the bottom up.

Re-developing transformational leadership changes the culture and conversation of an organization. Discourse analysis is only one of the ‘tools’ in the toolbox for transformational leadership. It is no accident that our Senior Facilitator has experience in linguistics and discourse analysis.

When the actions of an organization are outgrowths of tired clichés rather than the dynamic, intuitive, and inspiring language of transformation, it is time to facilitate transformational leadership.
