“RECOGNIZING GREATNESS IN SERVICE TO OTHERS”
2009 AWARDS
Non-Profit Board of the Year
Interfaith Hospitality of Spokane
Exceptional non-profit Boards are actively and personally engaged in the ministry and mission of the organization, provide training and orientation for smooth Board transitions, and are exceptional links between the ministry of the organization and the community. While they contribute financially to the organization, they deeply hold and exemplify in their own lives the values of the organization. Interfaith Hospitality Board members help move beds for homeless families, contact churches and community leaders for support, and by their hands-on involvement are blessed in ministry to those most in need.

Non-Profit Volunteer of the Year Award
Dr. Mary Johnson
Dr. Mary Johnson has directed the pain of personal challenges, into creating new opportunities for those most in need. She has worked tirelessly to help create the new early childhood learning center (pre-school) at Rehoboth Christian School. In this beautiful learning environment, children from the community that includes the Navajo Nation and Zuni Pueblo, find a supporting and caring learning environment. The ‘right start’ that this provides will change outcomes in the community for generations. Dr. Mary Johnson brings great professional expertise to this work as a recognized leader in the early childhood education field in New Mexico. She brings a loving and caring heart that echoes the words of Jesus: “suffer the little children to come to me, and forbid them not, for of such is the Kingdom of God”.
